RUN

The run is based in Woking Park where the swim is located so having to returned into transition you’ve got a nice run around the tarmac paths around the perimeter of the park. As a lapped course you’ll pass transition twice before heading up the finish line.

RACE FORMAT

Swim – 200m (Snake)               Bike – 11km                Run – 3km

SWIM

Your race day will see you start in the pool and completing 8 lengths in a snake style swim whereby you go up and down the same lane before passing under the rope into the next lane. You continue this 4 times until your out the pool.

We ensure swim starts are adequately spaced to allow sufficient space between competitors providing one complete length between competitors.

Swimmers will be organised on the day by approximate swim time with slowest competitors starting last to minimise nerves for those competing in triathlon for the first time.

BIKE

On exiting transition you’ll mount your bike and head out of the leisure centre.

The open road course will see you complete two laps of our course. On completion of your second lap you will turn back into the leisure centre and return to transition.

There are two right turns on this course which you will have to allow for stopping and taking your time at these are located on the turn in and out of the leisure centre.

RUN

Following completion of the bike leg of the event you will leave transition and run out into the park where you will completing three anti-clockwise laps of the course before heading to the finish line located opposite transition – whatever you do, don’t forget to smile for any family and friends cheering you on!

SWIM

Juniors will start their swim in the pool, completing 4, 6 or 8 lengths in a snake style swim whereby you go up and down the same lane before passing under the rope into the next lane. Once they reach the end of the pool they exit either by hopping up on the side or climbing out the ladder.

We ensure swim starts are adequately spaced to allow sufficient space between competitors providing approx. one complete length between competitors.

Swimmers will be organised on the day at poolside.

RUN

Following the swim you will leave the pool and enter transition. Donning your run gear the juniors will run out into the park and start their lap. The laps run anti-clockwise within the park and the number of laps to be completed is the same as their Tristars category, e.g. Tristars 1 = 1 lap.

Once they’ve completed  their lap/laps they head straight for the finish line located opposite transition.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS?

Do I need to have done a triathlon before?

Absolutely not this is a great event for first timers and is geared up specifically to provide an entry point for people into the sport.

I'm an experienced triathlete is this for me?

Do you need to improve your transitions?

Get used to working harder over short distances and switch up muscle groups?

Have you seen super league?

GoTri’s super sprint format present a great opportunity to refine your race craft, socialise with other triathletes in a low cost way.

How is the race timed?

We use an electronic iPad based timing system which provides start and finish times for everybody taking part in the event.

Saving money on the timing system is one of the key things we do to deliver this event at such a low cost. The only downside is the system doesn’t generate timing splits so if you want to breakdown your race this is best done via keeping your own time on your smart watch.

Do you provide Food & Water

Not on course but at the finish line we have a selection of fruit and water available.

What facilities are available on site

You have full use of the leisure centres changing facilities including showers, lockers, toilets and cafe.

My friends/family want to come and support what can they see?

Woking Park is a great venue for spectators, there is a viewing gallery for the competition pool, the transition & finish is located just outside, and you will pass them several times on the run.

EVENT REVIEWS
